Green Screen...oh my!

We encountered a few learning opportunities in producing these short films for our 12 days of leadership series. First, we forgot to put the phone on do-not-disturb... then the cat visited us while filming (our office is connected to our home), then FedEX popped in to make a delivery in the middle of filming.

But our set up was pretty simple utilizing one of our offices. We bought green poster board from AC Moore and used green duct tape to put these together for a green screen back drop...and to our surprise the lighting hit the tape and made a funny spots on our back ground. Not being sure how to fix the lighting to make this work, we opted to have me stand in-front of the bookcase in our resource room. How do you think this approach works? If green screen is not an option, what kind of back ground is best?  When you need to do a video quickly what are the most important things to look out for to do a quality job?
