What's the lesson?

Suppose a team was struggling with issues and you got approval for a team development process. On a Friday, there was a full day retreat and some excellent progress was realized. Then on the following Monday morning, without any prior notice or warning, the team leader gets pulled quietly and reassigned- permanently. Not a hypothetical situation, this actually happened. What is the lesson here? First, what lesson will team members will take away? What about the learning professionals that worked hard to understand the situation, build a plan and get results at the end of the day? What is the lesson for the re-assigned team leader and how will that learning affect this individual in their new assignment? What will this organization learn from this maneuver and when do you suppose that learning will show up? Finally, what is the lesson for us, learning professionals, as we seek to support our organizations and clients?
